Mary Albina (Minnie) CURRAN was born ca. 1874. She was the daughter of George CURRAN and his wife, Sarah (nee. NEWPORT).¹

She married David BELL in Cranagill Methodist Church in the parish of Tartarahagan, Co. Armagh. At the time of her marriage, she was living in the Bishop's Palace, Armagh, where she was probably in sercice. Her husband was a gardener at the Palace, and lived in the Gardeners Cottage there.¹

By the time of the 1901 Census of Ireland, Minnie and David have moved to Dillon, near Ardglass and they have a one year old son, William George (b.1900). David's occupation is listed as "gardener". ²

The family moved to 22 Scotch Street, Downpatrick, where they ran a greengrocer's shop.¹

In the 1911 Census, the family are still living in Downpatrick, and now have four children. The census also records a fifth child which did not survive.³

Minnie's husband, David died in a drowning accident at Newcastle, Co Down on the 7th August 1916.¹

She died in 1920, aged 46, from a blood clot on her lung, and was buried in the Cathedral graveyard in Downpatrick (Grave No. 345), beside her husband, David BELL.¹
